چکیده
Nickel (Ni) is an essential resource in many industries. However, as the industrial use of Ni increases, its impact environmental pollutant has also increased. Accordingly, effective treatment processes are required. In this study, hybrid capacitive deionization (HCDI) with Ag-coated activated carbon (AC) electrode was proposed a treatment. The capacity HCDI system Ag coating 66% higher than that membrane system. addition, applied potential increased from 0.5 V to 1.1 V, 10 mg/g 18 mg/g, although charge efficiency decreased 84.6% 77.2%. when 0.9 or more, pH effluent exceeded drinking water range, which appeared be caused by electron transfer reaction ions under high (0.9 more). terms energy consumption, electrodes achieved 0.24 Wh/g-NiCl2 minimum value. results study demonstrate (CDI) for

Effective Modified Carbon Nanofibers as Electrodes for Capacitive Deionization Process
Carbon materials have the advantages of good electrical conductivity and excellent chemical stability, so many carbon materials have been introduced as electrodes for the capacitive deionization (CDI) process. Due to the low surface area compared to the other nanocarbonaceous materials, CNFs performance as electrode in the CDI units is comparatively low. This problem has been overcome by prepar...
متن کاملWater desalination using capacitive deionization with microporous carbon electrodes.
Capacitive deionization (CDI) is a water desalination technology in which salt ions are removed from brackish water by flowing through a spacer channel with porous electrodes on each side. Upon applying a voltage difference between the two electrodes, cations move to and are accumulated in electrostatic double layers inside the negatively charged cathode and the anions are removed by the positi...

The recently developed modified Donnan (mD) model provides a simple and useful description of the electrical double layer in microporous carbon electrodes, suitable for incorporation in porous electrode theory. By postulating an attractive excess chemical potential for each ion in the micropores that is inversely proportional to the total ion concentration, we show that experimental data for ca...

Capacitive deionization (CDI) is a promising salt removal technology with high energy efficiency when applied to low molar concentration aqueous electrolytes. As an interfacial process, ion electrosorption during CDI operation is sensitive to the pore structure and the total pore volume of carbon electrodes limits the maximum salt adsorption capacity (SAC). Thus, activation of carbons as a wide...
متن کاملUsing Mesoporous Carbon Electrodes for Capacitive Deionization (CDI) of Salt and Brackish Water
Capacitive Deionization [2] (CDI [3]) is a water [4] purification process that offers promise in the deionization of salt and brackish water [4]. The process can create potable water [4] out of salt laden water [4] by using electric currents to separate the ions in the solution and attract them to cathode and anode plates. These plates act as filters, drawing salt and other ionized metals out o...
